Message Today we were about to leave an autocross event when one of our members (525+RWHP) took off heading south on Troost (in KC). He hit it in first then second and then the trottle stuck.
He had street tires and obviously broke then loose. He went across the on-coming lanes across a 2' deep ditch, between a fence and a telephone pole, went airborne, came down and stopped short of a 10' drop-off into a creek. When his car finally stopped and a crowd of people ran toward him to see if he was OK. He climbed out and opened the hood and freed the trottle cable. Luckily, he's OK.
He said that when the trottle stuck, he turned off the ignition, but the turbo timer was on. By the time he figured what was going on, he had already stopped.
Chalk off one air dam, one flat tire, a twin POP charger, a left quarter panel was sticking out and who knows what else. The car was driveable and really didn't look that bad. It was like watching a wreck on "Cops" on TV.
He just put a set of cams into the car and was wanting to see what he would dyno at. He did 525RWHP on pump gas just before the upgrade.
Off to the body shop tomorrow. He's one lucky guy--not a scratch--on him that is.
At the autocross, there was even a Tesstarossa (sp?). A large turnout and an exciting time.
